What a year it has been. In these truly unprecedented times, we hope all our readers are safe and well.

What have we been up to? With travel restrictions in place we were all faced with the prospect of staying at home and what better way to make the most of this time than by spending time with family and enjoying the lovely summer weather in our gardens. Instead of spending money on a fortnight’s holiday, many of you made the great decision of investing in your garden, be it to purchase a Primo Ceramic Grill or design an outdoor kitchen, complimented with a Primo Ceramic Grill. If you didn’t and you think this would be something of interest, please take a look at our website for our blog on outdoor kitchens.

For us the year has flown by and we have been extremely busy. As you can imagine, like many others in similar positions, we had lots of events cancelled due to the Covid Restrictions and are hoping that these will be able to take place next year. But this hasn’t stopped us from spreading the word of Primo Ceramic Grills throughout the UK – the world of social media is amazing, and we have been busy regularly posting on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

National BBQ Week 2020

With National BBQ Week having been pioneering Gastro-grilling and Better BBQ’ing since 1997 and over the years have helped to increase the overall number of BBQ’s held in the UK from 9 million to over 135 million last year, we were delighted to be nominated as ‘National BBQ Week’s Favourite BBQ Grill’ and it was an honour to support their chosen charities for the year: NHS Frontline and Supermarket Staff, such deserving causes. We offered our support by donating prizes for competitions they were running throughout the week and we are delighted to announce that from in excess of 28,000 entries the lucky winners were:

Jean Gallagher won the fantastic prize consisting of a Primo Junior 200 All In One Ceramic BBQ, a Meatstick and Bison Airlighter.

Competitions continued throughout the week and for something a little different we offered a prize of a NomadiQ Portable Gas BBQ, a lightweight portable gas bbq.

It can be used in your garden, is ideal for all keen caravaners and campers as it folds into a compact carry case or perhaps you simply fancy taking it on a picnic.

If you are ever stuck for gift ideas for any keen barbecuer, then this is the answer.

The lucky winner was Lauren and her feedback was…

"Hello, We finally used my wonderful bbq. Had burgers and some spicy pork belly slices. All cooked beautifully. Thank you "

UK BBQ Week

Shortly after the excitement of National BBQ Week we joined in the fun of UK BBQ Week too. Did you?

There was a menu to follow throughout the week and competitions too.

Look out for this in 2021 if you missed it…

Marcus Bawdon

We have also had Primo Ceramic Grills featured live on 30 May by Marcus Bawdon, author of Food and Fire.

Did any of you watch his live cooks?

Marcus cooked Picanha with beef fat, cauliflower cheese, mocha carrots, charred leeks and sausages, all cooked on the Primo, showcasing just how versatile the Primo is by using it directly and indirectly at the same time.

As you can see Marcus is a fan of the Primo Ceramic Grill, when he again featured it on 2 August.

Marcus then featured the Primo Ceramic Grill on 27 May by cooking planked Trout showing how useful the unique oval shape is for cooking on.

We, like many, were disappointed that Meatopia was unable to go ahead in its usual form this year, however we were very pleased to be involved in Meatopia at Home which commenced on 7 May 2020. Hosted via their Instagram channel the “At Home” series showcased some of Meatopia 2020’s Chefs producing dishes for their audience to recreate in their own homes.

The opportunity introduced us to Andy Stubbs of Low N Slow.

Andy Stubbs, better known on Instagram and around Birmingham as Andy Low N Slow, is Meatopia’s reigning champion of low and slow cooking.  He’s been a firm favourite at the festival for some years now and we had high hopes for this recipe, which he cooked using the LG300.

Andy introduced everyone to his Low N Slow Duck Carnitas with Duck Bacon, Black Beans and Heritage Green Tomato Salsa Verde.

Duck carnitas are basically confit — the legs are cooked in their own fat while the breast is cured to make a type of bacon that goes through the black beans. It was all served with a fresh corn tortilla and a salsa made with charred green tomatoes.

This was the first time Andy had had the opportunity to cook on a Primo Ceramic Grill, but it didn’t disappoint – we knew it wouldn’t but to get his feedback simply confirms just how fantastic a Primo Ceramic Grill is!

We are continuing to work with Andy and look forward to announcing future events that are taking place.  In the meantime, do visit his Instagram account…

Customer Feedback

It is always lovely to receive customer feedback.  Here are some we have received over the past few months…

"Having been a Primo Kamado owner for just under a year this spring has been the first time I have been able to fully enjoy the grill. I am amazed at the economy of the charcoal usage and last week demonstrated this wonderfully when a ¾ full loading of restaurant grade charcoal allowed for a 4 hour low and slow cook as well as another 3 grill cooks still leaving enough charcoal for at least one other grill cook possibly two. Price per cook is exceptional value and I have been very satisfied.”
